Daily Stoic Entry #153: Where Have I Lost the Forest for the Trees?
June 2nd, 2022
Follow along with my personal daily stoic journal, unfiltered, unedited (except for some spelling mistakes).
Morning Reflection:
In my efforts of dating, I’m meeting new people. But now I’m losing sight of why I’m doing this. I want genuine connection and love, a relationship I can build on. That’s the forest. Don’t be distracted by the small questions, that’s all overthinking. Just be present and seek to get to know someone and go for genuine connections. Don’t play a numbers game or judge people on shallow things, that’s losing the forest for the trees.
Evening Reflection:
I’m sure this is true for many aspects of life. Lately I’ve been in a bit of a dip, mentally speaking. I get too upset when I don’t have daily contact with the latest date by text. That’s just your insecurities talking, it has nothing to do with them. Overthinking is basically seeing all the trees, all the questions, all the small things, but not being able to enjoy and live in the bigger picture, the forest, where the good things really are.
