Daily Stoic Entry #19: Good Or Bad, High Or Low, Do I Still Have Choices?

January 19th 2022

Follow along with my personal daily stoic journal, unfiltered, unedited (except for some spelling mistakes).

Morning Reflection:

Always. While there seem to be days where you feel stuck and can’t get out of the hole, you must never believe that it’s permanent. No matter how tough it gets and you just feel like giving up. Trouble doesn't last forever. Choose to believe this always. When those times come take a step back, meditate, exercise, talk to somebody, do anything to break the cycle. You can always make choices that make a small difference, a small improvement is within reach at all times.

Evening Reflection:

Today, and the last couple days have been really hard and it’s difficult to have hope that things will change. That this is the best it gets and that it’s ultimately hopeless. I must make the choice in this bad and low time to believe I will find a good place and happiness, a less lonely existence. So, what choices am I making to assist myself in this process? Which choices should I continue to make? Because those small steps might not make a difference right now but they will eventually. Believe it. Improve by those incremental steps bit by bit. It’s the only way to move forward and survive.

Title prompts are taken from The Daily Stoic Journal by Ryan Holiday and Stephen Hanselman.
