Daily Stoic Entry #46: Do These Strong Emotions Even Make Sense?
February 15th 2022
Follow along with my personal daily stoic journal, unfiltered, unedited (except for some spelling mistakes).
Morning Reflection:
No most often they don’t make any sense. It’s often the case with strong emotions, isn’t it? especially negative ones, they are overwhelming and confusing. Swing too much into them and it can throw you off for a while if you’re not careful. By being mindful and recognizing this when it’s happening, you can interrupt it. Like stopping mid-swing in a golf swing. It’s difficult at first but you can get better at it and not let the momentum carry you through.
Evening Reflection:
While I find the negative emotions are a great disruptor and need to be watched, positive emotions can also bring their own hurdles. Currently I don’t monitor those positive ones too much because I want to find and seek out more of those positive experiences. But they too can swing towards an extreme. That brings a different problem with it because we don’t want to hold back when we’re feeling good. Just be mindful of those things that feel in good in the short term but do damage in the long run. Other than that you should be fine.
