Daily Stoic Entry #63: How Many Of My Limitations Are Really Self-Imposed?

March 4th 2022

Follow along with my personal daily stoic journal, unfiltered, unedited (except for some spelling mistakes).

Morning Reflection:

Most, if not all, of my limitations are likely to be self-imposed. Obviously I'm not talking about physical limitations, for example. I won't be a pro basketball player anymore anyway. What we're talking about here is limitations such as fear of going after what you want. You can learn anything but are held back by your own shackles. The whole process of this journal is breaking those chains through reflections and clear observations. The process of breaking those chains and becoming lighter and more free.

Evening Reflection:

Our self-imposed limitations are the most tragic limitations aren't they? Especially when we observe others we can so clearly see what the solutions are because you're removed from the situations emotionally. Their emotions cloud their vision. But when you're in it yourself it's the same thing, others can see the solution and it seems simple, but to you, the one wrapped up in your emotional state can't see it clearly and feel stuck. See if you can't find ways to give yourself that clear vision by stepping back out of the turmoil if you can.

Title prompts are taken from The Daily Stoic Journal by Ryan Holiday and Stephen Hanselman.
