Daily Stoic Entry #64: Do I Really Need These Things I Work So Hard For?

March 5th 2022

Follow along with my personal daily stoic journal, unfiltered, unedited (except for some spelling mistakes).

Morning Reflection:

I've been looking at this more carefully, because the majority of things I probably don't need. Something I don't need but want. That's fine, treating yourself to something fun is great and it's part of taking care of yourself and putting your needs first moderately speaking anyway. However when it's money spent on things that are ultimately trivials then it's simply a huge waste that could've been put to better use. And I still notice this waste with me despite my high savings rate. Don't over-correct though, in that case you'll start living a constricted life again which goes against your current goals.

Evening Reflection:

For example you should take nice holidays abroad. You don't need it but it's good for you.
It's all about cutting waste out of your life. If you do that you can either stop working so hard and spend time on the things that matter more to you. Or you can free up money to spend on the actual important things.
