Daily Stoic Entry #78: What Is the Real Cause of My Irritations — External Things or My Opinions?

March 19th, 2022

Follow along with my personal daily stoic journal, unfiltered, unedited (except for some spelling mistakes).

Morning Reflection:

It's a combination but mostly my own opinions, especially those about myself. My desire to improve and my self-hatred are a source of great inner tension, conflict, and pain. Drop external irritation and adapt better internal stories about yourself.

Evening Reflection:

Resolve the inner conflict. Only you can change your narrative. You may be experiencing difficulties the last couple of days but don't abandon the good practices you've put in place. Forget all other goals such as monetary, relationships, work, etc. Seek inner peace, do stuff for yourself first, but make sure to do new stuff, make sure to choose to do a difficult thing sometime.

Title prompts are taken from The Daily Stoic Journal by Ryan Holiday and Stephen Hanselman.
