Daily Stoic Entry #90: Can I Stop Chasing the Impossible Today?
March 31st, 2022
Follow along with my personal daily stoic journal, unfiltered, unedited (except for some spelling mistakes).
Morning Reflection:
Hopefully with my journaling efforts as well as continued introspection and trying to achieve better habits, it will become more likely I don’t waste my talents and energy on chasing the impossible. Being mindful of what you're chasing and why is especially important. Don’t overthink to the point of obsession though, that the defeats the point of the exercise.
Evening Reflection:
Much of Stoicism is aimed at this question i a sense. It tries to remind you to focus your efforts on those things you can control on a day-by-day level. This makes for better and more realistic patterns of behavior (habits). It steers you away from spending time and energy on the things that are either of your control or impossible anyway. Which in turn should create better habits like virtuous cycle. And, ironically, you’ll be able to achieve remarkable things you have originally thought to be impossible.
